Hot tubs, movies and a Hackney art-space.
In 2006, a cinema devotee and hot tub fan called Asher Charman decided that hot tubs and the silver screen were the perfect combination for a night of fun and frolics.
It seems that his vision caught on and by the summer of 2011, Asher was filling his back garden with hot tubs and the hot tubs were filled with people who liked movies.
Asher realised that there was a potential business here and, potentially, a really fun one.
The next step forward was to find new and exciting venues and locations for the Hot Tub Cinema experience.
In 2012, Asher and his team brought the Hot Tub Cinema to various venues in East London including the rooftop terrace of the Hackney art space, Netil House.
A large screen to project the movie on and an audience of 10 or more hot tubs, each with 8 people in it, plus waitress service drinks proved to be a winning formula and a view over the famous London skyline only added to the thrill. They also encourage people to ‘dress up’ in a way that compliments the movie
Hot Tub Cinema proved so popular that they returned to London in 2013 with a 7 night run of ‘All Time Classics’ at the beginning of March.
They have also provided their unique experience at film premieres, film shoots and both corporate and private parties.

Spas and hot tubs have been popular for parties since they were first seen in California in the 60’s.
Over the following 50plus years they have grown a healthy reputation for relaxation, health and wellbeing – but that doesn’t mean that they can’t be fun too.
What Hot Tub Cinema shows is that if you have a good party theme and some friends who are prepared to join in the spirit – and share in the tub – then hot, bubbling water, a clear night sky and a good movie will make an evening to remember.
Whether it’s a party for the kids or something a little bit more adult is obviously down to you.
Its good to see that over their 50 year history, hot tubs and spas have developed and ‘grown up’, but they certainly haven’t lost their sense of fun.
